To get started you must first create a new account in the upper right hand corner. You can then begin adding sites to your mix "bookmarks" or edit MySiteMixer preferences and manage your mixed sites settings. Every time you make a change while using MySiteMixer, data is stored in a server database, that means that you can access your mix from any computer at any time. You may also access a URL address in "My Preferences" that will allow you to share your mix with anyone.
Before adding sites to your mix, it is recommended that you make some categories. For example (1st Browser, 2nd Browser etc..) ( cat 1, cat 2 etc..) or ( News, Forums, Video etc ).
To do this select, "My Preferences" and you will see an "add new category" box, type in a category and select save changes. You can always go back and change these categories at any time. It is recommended to use 5 categories, since there are 5 browsers in the multiple browser mode.
Start by typing or pasting a URL into the address bar and select go, a dialog will appear "The active Web site below is not currently in your collection" click "add to my sites".
Once you click "add to my sites" an add new URL screen will appear, name the site in the title bar. You will notice a "Category" selector, this will be very useful when you begin to use the multiple browser mode.
Select a category to file the site in and select "add to my sites". You should now see a thumbnail of the saved bookmark in the bar above the browser. You will be able to edit your sites by selecting "manage my mixed sites".
You may edit your sites one by one here, you can change the name, make that site private and select the category that you want the site to show in.
Here you can change your account details, Name, E-mail address or password. You will also find the links that will allow you to share your Mix with friends, clients, students etc...
On the right side of the screen, you can select the view you want (single browser or multiple browser) and also add or remove categories.
Open My Preferences, select "Multiple Browsers" then "save changes" and "return to home page" Now you will have 5 separate browsers all within one Web page. Each browser acts independently from the others. You can use the "Category Filter" to select the sites you want to be seen in each browser. Once you have a category selected, you can click on the "Set as Default" button to lock your category selection into that browser. Now when you, a friend or client open MySiteMixer in the multiple browser mode all of your settings will be saved from the previous session. This means you can have five seperate sites open when MySiteMixer is opened.
You can navigate the Web as with any normal Web browser. The forward, back and go functions are accessed near the URL address bar as normal. By right clicking over the browser you can access further functions, once the pop up navigation window appears you will see Back, Forward, Reload and Stop.
To get the URL address of the current Web site in that browser, again right click with your mouse over "This Frame" and then select "Frame Info" the URL Address will appear at the top of the window. Copy and Paste the address from this location as needed.
You can now include MysiteMixer into your Web site. This will allow your members to access the Web sites that you feel are relevant and helpful to your site. It also keeps your members on your Web site and we all know how important that is! Your members can also log into their own site mixer page while staying on your site. A win-win for everyone. The more users you have using MySiteMixer will increase the chance that your site makes it into the Top Ten Sites mixed, which will increase your advertising potential.
Just change the code in BLUE between the quotations with your shared MySiteMixer URL address found in "My Preferences" and copy and paste the HTML code below into your Web site. You may change the height , but it is recommended to keep it at a minimum of 500 pixels.
<iframe height="500" width="100%" src="http://YourSharedSiteMixURLHere"></iframe>
Note: This will take up a fair amount of space, it is recommended that the code be placed in a minimum of 700 pixel wide format to avoid left to right scrolling.
